1. Information We Collect

• Account data: username, email address, password (stored encrypted), and profile information you choose to add.
• Content you post: course submissions, forum posts, comments, group activity, and messages.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, and device information, collected automatically for security and analytics.
• Cookies: small files used to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and measure site usage (see Section 4).

2. Who Controls This Data

LearnHive is operated by ATX Tech LLC (“the Data Controller”), founded by Uday Shankar, as part of the LearnHive Education Project (an independent nonprofit educational initiative). Our legal basis for processing your data includes your consent given at account registration and our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and moderating the platform. Data may be stored on hosting infrastructure located outside your country of residence. We apply reasonable technical and organizational security measures (including encrypted password storage and access controls) to protect your data, though no system can be guaranteed fully secure.

3. Comments & Gravatar

When you leave a comment on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you have an associated profile picture; see the Gravatar privacy policy for details. Once a comment is approved, your profile picture is visible publicly alongside it. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments from the same person can be recognized and approved automatically.

4. Embedded Content

Pages on LearnHive may include embedded content (e.g., YouTube videos, images, or articles from other websites). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the source website directly — it may collect data about you, use its own cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content, including if you are logged into an account on that other site.

5. Password Resets & Spam Detection

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email for security purposes. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service before publication.

6. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to operate your account, display your profile and content to other members, moderate the community, improve the platform, and communicate with you about your account or activity. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

7. Data Retention & Your Rights

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us (see below). Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable law, including:

• EU/UK users (GDPR): right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and data portability.
• California users (CCPA/CPRA): right to know what data is collected, right to deletion, and right to opt out of sale/sharing of personal information (LearnHive does not sell personal data).

8. Cookies

LearnHive uses cookies necessary for login sessions and site functionality, as well as analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may limit some site features (such as staying logged in).

9. Children’s Privacy

LearnHive is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it. Users aged 13–17 should have parental or guardian awareness of their participation.

10. Copyright & DMCA

If you believe content on LearnHive infringes your copyright, please send a notice to our designated contact (Section 7) including a description of the copyrighted work, the location of the allegedly infringing material, and your contact information. We will review and respond to valid takedown requests.

11. Third-Party Links

LearnHive may link to third-party sites (including learnhive.shop and instructor-provided resources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external sites; please review their policies separately.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of LearnHive after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
