Words alone can’t always describe a specific pose or layout. This lesson covers how to guide a result using a reference image instead.
A reference image lets you guide a generation toward a specific pose or layout instead of describing it purely in words. Image-to-image generation blends a starting image with a prompt.
Two common uses
Pose or layout guidance — upload a rough sketch or photo, the model follows that structure while applying your style.
Style transfer — provide an existing image whose palette or texture you want carried into a new subject.

The “strength” setting controls how closely the result follows your reference versus your prompt — low values stay close to the reference, high values let the prompt take over more.
Hands-on exercise
Find or sketch one reference image related to something you need. Run it through image-to-image at two strength settings and compare.
